EMDR, an evidence based therapy, addresses symptoms such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and relationship problems. In a nutshell, dysfunction that shows up in day to day life has its roots in brain linkages and connections to life experiences. Some life experiences are stored adaptively while others are stored maladaptively....and that's when the past starts showing up in the present. Think about it as some life events are frozen in time - the memories get stuck. These stuck memories influence your behavior in daily life. Said another way, you have your own little "influencer" in your brain that creates reactions in day to day life that seem to control you. You find yourself doing the things you don't want to do. EMDR therapy allows you to understand and reprocess these life events. Those symptoms that bring you to therapy are just that - symptoms of how the brain has linked these life experiences together.
At a recent EMDR Conference, new clinicians questioned current consultation rates. I listened - I heard. My goal is to offer consultation to the next generation of therapists at affordable rates. I offer 3 types of consultation: (1) HAP EMDR Level I and II consultations; (2) Certification; and (3) Consultants in Training (CITs). The consultation tab offers more information.
